Brief Autobiography for Doug Perry:
I was born Mansfield, Ohio, and have lived there ever since. Today im 37.
I attended Carpenter Elem School, Simpson Jr High, and Ontario High School. My interest in music started when I was very young. I always listend to alot of music but never really thought about playing it until I met Milo Scamblone in 1984. He suggested I take up playing Bass. Shortly thereafter, my Mom bought a Bass Guitar for me at Christmas, it was a Series 10.
Within a short period of time, I met Mark Shibley at Milo's wedding. We became friends and soon started jammin together. We started looking for members to form a band and tried out lots of drummers, but didnt have much luck. Eventually pieces started to fall together, and my first band was formed, "Mantis". This line up featured Mark, Mark Zellner, Darren Fern, Dave Taylor, and myself. We played for about 2 years. The singer, Dave, quit the band, and we struggled to find a new singer immediately thereafter. Eventually Mark Shibley moved to California. This spelled the end of "Mantis".
The next band I performed with was Harem Scarem, witch included Mark Zellner, Shane
Wilcox, Scott Yoder, Kevin Alfrey. Kevin stayed maybe a year, and I lasted about
a year and a half, and left after unresolved differences. After that, I didnt
touch my bass for about 3 years! Then one day, I came home from work, and found
a note on the door from Mark Zellner, who wanted me to come and jam......later
on Mark left our little unamed group to join "Torpedo Alley" We continued
without Mark and added John Baker , and the group became
known as "Foreplay", with a lineup of Chuck Vance, Steve Beasley, John Baker,
and Myself. This arrangement lasted about 2 years, and then I joined Bill
Thompson to form "Blackout". I played in Blackout for a little over a year when
Mark Zellner called me to replace the former bass player of Lost Angel, and I have been
with the band since.
